Alive
Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at 03:23PM All I can say is God is good. It’s been so fun just sitting back and watching God do what he does best…and that is transform lives. There are so many people at Lakeland who authentically are pursuing the heart of God. When this takes place, God meets us where we’re at. Scripture says, “Seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened up to you.” So many are finding, so many are discovering, so many are living the life which Jesus talked about in John 10:10. “I’ve come that you might have life, and have it to the full.” This makes me all the more excited for our encounters each weekend.
Lakeland is enjoying watching God bring dead things to life…come be apart of it.

Josh:
Enjoyed your Blog article on Bell's book, Love Wins. While I have not read it, his view does not surprise me. The popular belief these days is that if God is a loving God he will just let us do and believe what we want and we are not called to make any hard decisions and we are to tolerate all others, and accept their actions and beliefs, however bizarre. While this may make it easier for modern day man to justify all that he does with no consequences, it is not at all what the Bible teaches and it flies in the face of history. Not all religions are the same, and all ways do not lead to heaven. Jesus makes it clear that He is the only way to the Father. Thanks for your wisdom!
He is bizarre. Example: "Salvation is the entire universe being brought back into harmony with its maker."
Or "This is why for thousands of years Christians have found the cross to be so central to life. It speaks to us of God's suffering, God's pain, God's broken heart. It's God making the first move and then waiting for our response." It is a little too artsy fartsy for me. Its poetic-like and some things make sense and other of his things are way out there and some things are open for interpitation. If you read his new book, let me know what you think. I have to read baseball Digest first.
Appreciate your post. Bell is an incredible communicator, but I suspect that he is using the controversy to sell books. They pulled the release date forward as a result.
Bell's interviews suggest that he is in the throws of a New Age religion (of which Universalism is just one). Been there. Done that. No thanks. Hang on to Jesus.
I love the way that comedian Brad Stine responds to the subject of a loving God sending people to hell...
"He didn’t give hell for you. That’s what great about Christianity; he gives you all the answers. Hell was created for the devil and his angels. But it was part of the rules he put into nature, into the nature that we live in, that anyone who rebels against Him…this is where they are going. So once we did that He could have bailed out. 'Sorry, you’re going to hell.' He didn’t. He said, 'Kids…I’m coming down.' So if you go to hell…you chose it. You will not sit there and argue with Him. You’ll know what you’ve done."
Josh-
Rob Bell is a phenominal communicator. His NOOMA stuff has been engaging and provocative to say the least. So I appreciate your perspective on this new work of his. I know that he's caused a lot of stir within the evangelical community as a whole because of his latest book. Thanks for the heads-up for LakeLand.
I'd actually love to review these boxes on my shopping/lifestyle blog. i wonder if they'd send me a sample box to talk about? kacmgd kacmgd - Belstaff Icon Jackets.
